3 UFC Betting Tips
After watching the late 1990s action film Fight Club, it came to us that UFC is simply a safer real life version of the film. Stars such as Chuck Liddell are former white collar workers with some bent up frustration, who fight in the UFC in order to cool off. In addition to these former white collar workers, the UFC also has various athletes trying their hand at fighting in a cage for the betting enthusiast's pleasure.
If you are new to UFC betting, these three tips will help you in making the best decision on which fighter to wager on.
A) Anyone Can Win on Any Given Night - Unlike its main competition professional wrestling, the UFC is both not choreographed and not fixed. In wrestling, the moves are done safely and the outcome is predetermined. In UFC the fight is real, the doctors are real and occasionally the fight will come to a referee's decision, similar to boxing. When first betting on the UFC know that the fact anyone can beat anyone is the wisest tip in the whole sport. For instance, at the debut event for UFC's then competition EliteXC, back alley brawler Kimbo Slice was hyped as the biggest thing in fighting and was supposed to fight former UFC legend Ken Shamrock. Prior to the match Shamrock had to pull out due to injury, and was replaced by Seth Petruzelli. Many fans and experts believed that Slice would win the match, however eight seconds into the fight Petruzelli proved to the world that anyone could beat anyone on any given night knocking out Slice and putting EliteXC out of business.
B) Research Prior to Betting - Since UFC is just entering its prime, the most casual of fans have a tendency to accept high odds on the household names in the sport, such as Liddell, St. Pierre, and Rampage. However as tip #1 proves the lesser known fighters have the possibility of defeating the big names. Instead of betting on the top names, do some research on past fights, records, training, before placing a bet on perhaps the wrong fighter.
C) Do Not Expect Too Much- Within UFC events, fans wagering on the card for the first time tend to go home disappointed, as many believe a knockout will happen within the first few seconds of the fight. Unless you are betting on a Kimbo Slice fight, this will not always happen. Instead, after doing research, bettors can note the style of fighting the two fighters in a match exhibit and can bet on a winner based on the style.
