Tostito Fiesta Bowl Oklahoma State V Stanford
The 2011 college football betting regular season closed out its final games this past weekend, as the NCAA revealed their Bowl Game participants. To say that several of the top programs in the country were upset by the NCAA’s bookie software selections, would be putting it lightly. Two teams that were particularly unhappy will be battling it out in the Fiesta Bowl on January 2, 2012, as Oklahoma State Cowboys take on the Stanford Cardinals. Here is a preview of the game.
Oklahoma State will be picturing Iowa State when they face Stanford on January 2, 2012 for the Fiesta Bowl Championship. For those unfamiliar, Iowa State was the school that pulled a shocking upset over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in double overtime just over a month ago, and basically cost the Cowboys a shot at the National Title game. As a result of that loss and some politics, it will be Alabama and not Oklahoma State that faces LSU for the National Title.
Looking ahead to the Fiesta Bowl, on paper NFL fans would be wise to take the total in this game, as both the Cowboys and Cardinals possess two of the best offenses in the nation. Heisman hopeful Brandon Weeden, who has put on a clinic all season, in Oklahoma, leads the Cowboys. He is flanked by a superior run game and one of the more potent defensive secondaries in the nation.
On the other hand, expected Heisman winner Andrew Luck leads the Stanford Cardinals. The senior is expected to prove to fans and critics alike, that he deserves not only the award, but also the top spot in the upcoming NFL draft. For professional football fans, the “Suck for Luck” sweepstakes may have a huge influence on this game. In essence, if Oklahoma State lays out Stanford the same way they beat up on Oklahoma this past weekend, it may be Weeden and not Luck who is drafted first overall.
